Wendy Matthews – Billie & Me Valentine's Show

The Flying Saucer Club are excited to host artist Wendy Matthews, who has an expressive voice that never fails to move those who hear it.

Wendy Matthews' music is an unhurried journey of clean melodies, infectious energy and simple grace, In an age where uber-production techniques are thought to be hip and cynicism an attribute, Wendy has proven that commitment to beauty is still not only valid but applauded by the public ear. She has an immense talent and capacity to capture and define a diverse range of styles in her music. She takes songs from every genre and makes them her own; from jazz to blues, from rock to gospel, from soul to outright infectious pop and then, of course, there are the beautiful ballads.

Wendy has recorded a live album (Billie and Me) with long time collaborators Brendan St Ledger on piano and Greg Royal on standup bass ' inspired by the music and soul of the late Billie Holiday. Since the albums' release this group of four including Mick King (guitar) have been touring the Billie & Me show across Australia to sell out venues.

As an added bonus for this show, Wendy and her band will also perform a handful of reworked popular songs from Wendy's highly successful career, fitting into a similar vein, including 'The Day You Went Away', 'Woman's Got To Have It' 'Token Angels' and 'I Don't Want to be With Nobody But You'.
