Willow Court Heritage site is a special and unique place. It provides a rare opportunity to embrace a significant aspect of Tasmania’s history, from convict origins through the development of the facility as a psychiatric intuition. The site is significant as it was the first custom built asylum in Australia and it operated as Tasmania's only mental asylum for over 170 years.
