Come and join The Hub 6163 Book Club - Writing Group: A Practical Guide to Fiction and Life-Story, led by Dr Alan Hancock.

This course will give you all that’s best about being in a book club, and a writing group. We’ll look at extracts from the work of top fiction authors, which will inform and inspire our writing. Expect famous writers like Margaret Attwood, Helen Garner, Alain de Botton, and Tim Winton—plus a few you may not know, like Xia Luo Guo, and Emily St John Mandel. There will be plenty of tried and tested exercises to get the words flowing on the page. There will be time to work individually, as a whole class and in small groups.

So—take a fresh look at your favourite authors, or maybe discover some new books. Learn techniques for writing fiction and life story. And have fun. In the longer term I would like the people who attend the course to form a group who can then meet regularly at The Hub as a book group / writing group, independent of any teacher or leader.

Bookings via Eventbrite: NB you must pre-book to reserve a place. Alan is a published author and scriptwriter. He teaches creative writing at Curtin University. You can find more about his writing at Alan Hancock's website.
