A shiny, glitter studded, mega mix of the ultimate dancing moves, brought to you by performance collective Everybody NOW.

Renowned performance makers Everybody NOW’s You Should Be Dancing will feature as a highlight of the 2019 Darebin Speakeasy season. The non-stop exhilarating party through decades of dance will leave participants smiling from ear to ear, a little breathless and hopefully still discovering glitter and newly found moves for days to come!

After performances at the Brisbane and Darwin Festivals, You Should Be Dancing is Melbourne’s invitation to party, feel the rhythm, embrace the romance and dance.

Everybody NOW Is led by Kate McDonald, Ian Pidd and Bec Reid who are a collective of performance makers and producers who create participatory, large-scale, immersive experiences that are celebratory and playful, propelled by passion and curiosity.

Totally participatory and inclusive for all ages and abilities, the show opens with a short ‘learn the moves’ class led by dance captain deluxe Bec Reid with help from dozens of local dancers, community groups and dance instructors. This is followed by 90 minutes of dancing that will leave participants smiling from ear to ear as they discover their inner dancing star! Queen of the decks, Disco DJ Diva, will lay down the tracks for dancers to bust out the grooves they didn’t even know they had.

Celebrating its sixth birthday in 2019, Darebin Arts Speakeasy season features contemporary and challenging performances by leading creatives including Fleur Kilpatrick, Jessica Wilson, David Woods, Lemony S Puppet Theatre and Joseph O’Farrell.

Note: No experience necessary, just loads of enthusiasm!
