Returning to Perth after her successful performances at the recent Fringe Festival, is the incredibly talented "Bakers Daughter". Bakers Daughter (aka Alyce Platt) is Melbourne born singer-songwriter, musician, actor better known by Australian audiences for her many roles on iconic TV shows such as Sons and Daughters, Sale of the Century and Neighbours.
Reframing her past, Alyce (Bakers Daughter) presents her original music and artistic pursuits through the lens of the Indie-pop artist she is so highly regarded as by her peers and critics alike.
"Alyce’s songs are special..thoroughly bewitched by the wonderful music and the door it opened into a very cool and groovy world." - Steve Kilbey, The Church
Catapulted from the suburban jungle of the 80s into a ubiquitous television career, Bakers Daughter highlights stories and observations from growing up in the suburbs to living in St. Kilda with superhero’s, cowboys in the attic and the KGB.
Bakers Daughter’s indie-pop songs have a depth and melancholy that can suddenly turn around and become oblique, uplifting tunes coated in a blanket of haunting melodies and dreamy soundscapes wrapped around lyrics of familiar strangers, nostalgic themes and ghostly whispers of unrequited love. Blurring the lines of reality and make believe, Bakers Daughter stumbles through obstacles of self-doubt and paranoia not afraid to confront the darker side of life.
Due to popular demand, Alyce is returning to Perth for a very special performance –she is partnering with local WA Charity Painted Dog Conservation Inc, with part proceeds from this event being donated to support their frontline conservation work in Africa. Appearing with Alyce will be Dion Hirini, who has played with the likes of Vika And Linda, Debra Burns.
