Blak Tui, Laurie Luke and The Renegades & Command A Panda

When it comes to new heavy hitting, Perth garage rock trio, Blak Tui, it could simply be said that the band's essence is all in the name. The name comes from the New Zealand Tui Bird. From a distance they appear black. But up close they appear quite colourful.

Similar things could be said of the band that takes their name from this deceptive and fascinating bird. Three band members combine influences and experience from their previous bands. The hard rock drive of guitarist and singer Chris Reidy, bassist Nick Haggarty and drummer Darren Webb is immediately noticeable in spades, but there are more musical layers revealed as you listen more deeply.

The album showcases what has inspired over years of life, music, work and play. With elements of Shihad, Red Hot Chilli Peppers, Queens Of The Stone Age and The Black Keys, yet through a hard-rock-tough-funk/melodic-pop filter tht is very much their own.
