Immerse yourself in the magic of Botanical Colourings.

The magic of dyeing using only colours from the earth and plants will be on show in an exhibition of stunning pieces at the Maroochy Regional Bushland Botanic Gardens, September 19 to October 12.
The artworks on display will include indigo and Shibori, textile printing, paintings, mixed media art and weaving all coloured by plant and earth pigments and created by members of the Sunshine Coast Natural Dye Group.

SCNDIG founder Jenai Hooke said the group is made up of professional and emerging artists, educators and those there for the “profound joy of playing and connecting with nature”.

“There is nothing quite so delicious as cooking up a pot of flowers or leaves on an open fire and transforming a blank cloth into a colourful textile that radiates the energy and the colour of the plant.”
As Jenai says, “When we look closely at a flower and admire its radiant beauty something is gifted to us, putting a smile on our faces and joy in our hearts.”

Take this opportunity to immerse yourself in a world where natural colour becomes art.
Throughout the Exhibition members will share their creative processes in demonstrations and a workshop.

Workshop “Dyeing fabric and fibres with botanicals” 10am-1pm Sunday, September 27. Free demonstrations of textile patterning and natural dyeing techniques, 11am-12 midday Wednesdays, Fridays and Sundays for the duration of the exhibition.

Due to COVID restrictions all participants are required to register with council. For workshop bookings and demo registration please visit
