Local musicians have banded together to raise funds in a unique “audience sing along” performance.
This year has been especially tough for everyone, but the musicians at Harmonie Musique Perth won’t let that stop them from putting on a Christmas extravaganza to raise funds in support of their musical pursuits and local charities.

Spearheaded by WAAPA graduate Sarah-Susanne Jackson, this idea surfaced from wanting to create something positive out of all the chaos. “A day we can put our troubles aside and use our training, skills, passions and love for music to good use - creating our own opportunities while also thinking of those less fortunate than us.”

The performers include singers Sarah-Susanne and guest baritone Brett Peart who are both graduates from the Western Australian Academy of Performing Arts. Continuing the line-up, Pianist Hannah Th’ng is currently completing her master’s degree at WAAPA, Harpist Renee Ng completed a Bachelor of Music in Harp Performance at the Sydney Conservatorium of Music, and Oliver Stark (Euphonium) is undergoing his bachelor of music at the University of Western Australia. All musicians have won awards at local and state level performances and have featured in concerts such as the Couch Opera Live and freeze Frame Opera.

With all of your favorite carols and more, the program is specifically designed to rejuvenate well known carols with lessor known carols alike as the live musicians provide audiences the chance to sing along.

Festive music will fill the halls of Christchurch Claremont located at the corner of Queenslea Drive and the Stirling Highway in Claremont - halfway between Perth and Fremantle. Audiences are encouraged to bring their best singing voices to help fill the hall, and join in for a community light super. Kids under 10 are free and family passes are discounted.

More importantly, half of all funds raised will go directly to the Perth Homeless Support Group. This work relentlessly year-round to help combat homelessness, providing much-needed food, clothing, toiletries, support, to those who have it the hardest in our society. “As much as [This Virus] has hit us hard, having live gigs, performances and jobs cancelled - at least we still have a roof over our heads and food on the plate, This cannot be said for all of us, especially for those who live it rough on the streets.

We hope you can come along to the first premier Carols by Lamplight; It will surely prove to be a treat for the whole family, and perhaps even help you end 2020 on a high note!
