Celebrate the festive season by creating a one-of-a-kind, handmade wreath using native greenery adorned with sculptural flowers. Learn from ceramic artist Jane du Rand and environmental artist Nadine Schmoll as they share their craft in a fusion of traditional and contemporary art forms. Discover how to sculpt flower forms from both clay and plastic to create a unique table centrepiece.

This workshop runs over two consecutive Sundays. Day 1 will focus on creating feature flowers in both ceramic and plastic. Day 2 you will use floristry techniques to build your wreath and assemble the elements together.

The workshop includes glazing and firing of ceramic pieces. All materials will be provided however feel free to bring along clean, 1.5L plastic bottles to re-use in your design.

You will receive:

- Artistic tuition from 2 experienced arts practitioners
- The chance to explore 3 artistic techniques and mediums: floristry, ceramics and environmental art
- Access to the necessary tools and materials, including native greenery and 30cm floral wreath base
- The opportunity to socialise with other creatives and nature lovers in a friendly and relaxed studio environment

About the artists:

Jane du Rand - is a ceramic and mosaic artist working from her studio in Yeerongpilly, Brisbane. Born in Durban, South Africa, she has a Bachelor of Architecture Cum Laude from the University of KwaZulu Natal. Jane has run a ceramic studio for the past 20 years and is best known for her large scale commissioned ceramic and mosaic artworks in public spaces and on public buildings, as well as a great number of private commissions. She has completed projects throughout Southern Africa, and also in France, the Netherlands, Chile, the United Kingdom, Ireland, Australia, New Zealand and the United States of America. Jane is represented by Edwina Corlette Gallery in Brisbane, Australia.

Nadine Schmoll - is a Brisbane based artist and educator whose practise spans art and science to create wearable art, sculpture and installations. Nadine creates immersive experiences that explore plant, animal and human interactions to inspire positive change on environmental conservation and the sustainable use of resources. She holds a Graduate Diploma in Education (Visual Arts) and has nine years of experience creating learning programs and resources for diverse audiences. www.nadine-schmoll.com
