Deconstructed Lifecycles: Painting with Fire for Tolerance
‘Deconstructed Life Cycles’ is the inaugural solo art exhibition of Andrea Moser.
Andrea’s art depicts diverse themes such as fauna, flora, fashion, luxury items, food and drink. The common thread between these themes is that they have diverse meanings or symbolic value. Every individual has a unique relationship to these themes. Andrea is a visual storyteller and tells the stories of these relationships.
"I like the viewer to discover multiple perspectives and interpretations of a theme." Andrea said. "My aim is that my paintings are prompting the viewer to have an inner dialogue with themselves through the artwork."
"This is an opportunity for the viewer to self-reflect and contemplate their own relationship with the theme. The viewer can then compare it with the perspective other people might have. The emphasis is to grow mutual understanding for each other and respect for different perspectives and opinions," Andrea said.
"That way my art is promoting tolerance and diversity. While I have my stories and reasons behind each piece, the beliefs, biases and perspectives of the viewer bring my art to life."
Andrea Moser is known for her encaustic medium artworks in her distinctive black and white signature style. The 2000 year old encaustic medium is her chosen paint because she likes to challenge the preconceived views of this ancient technique. She uses this medium in a contemporary way by combining it with modern techniques.
Her work utilizes encaustic medium, pen drawings, shellac, gilding and oil paints. Encaustic medium is manipulated with a blowtorch, so one could say Andrea is painting with fire.
