ECU Open Day Mount Lawley

Enjoy live music and dance performances, get behind the scenes in our screen production, TV and radio studios, find out what it takes to be a teacher and explore more than 250 diverse courses at this year’s ECU Mount Lawley Campus Open Day.

Visitors can discover ECU and the West Australian Academy of Performing Arts (WAAPA) performance studios, design workshops and film and broadcasting facilities.

Activities include:

- Mini Golf: putt your way around our 9-hole mini golf course and see how many hole-in-ones you can hit.
- Food trucks/DJ: we’ve invited some of Perth’s best food trucks to help keep your energy levels up. And there’ll be DJs playing your favourite tunes while you eat.
- Timezone/Virtual Reality experience: play some of your arcade favourites or challenge your focus in a round of Beat Saber. Will you walk away with the highest score?
- Bungee Run or Axe Challenge: this is one way to stretch yourself. Compete with mates or family members in our bungee run and axe throw challenges – but not at the same time.
- Printmaking: experience live demonstrations using our Albion letterpress machines.
• All about art: take a tour through our printmaking, drawing and painting studios and check out ECU’s art collection and exhibitions.
• Motion capture: not just for movies – find out how motion capture is used in performance, sports, gaming, entertainment and more.
- Inside the studio: walk through our state-of-the-art TV studios, editing suites and radio station.
- Glass blowing: experience a live demonstration of hot glass techniques.
- Pick the suspect: could you identify an offender? Test your powers of observation and learn more about criminology.
- Teaching the teachers: find out what it takes to be a teacher in early childhood studies, primary and secondary education from WA’s most popular school of education.
- Investigate STEM-based play: Explore practical ways to engage children in design thinking and procedural skills through coding and robotics.
- Rocket mice: What goes up must come down! Make your very own rocket mouse and launcher and helicopter. See how high your mouse can fly!
