The music performance of new work “Cosmology” by international electric violinist Rupert Guenther takes us on an epic journey in space and time, to discover that we are not here on earth looking up, with all these stars and galaxies “out there” above us—rather that we and our planet and solar system are just shining specs in vast space just as all the other star systems are. We are ourselves “out there”, and are very much a part of “out there”.

Using traditional and extended playing techniques on both acoustic and electric instruments and live electronic looping, Rupert Guenther turns the violin into an extraordinary vehicle for his art, evoking through sound and music an inner sensory journey, from the very origins of time to futuristic visions of the universe and our momentary place in it.

Rupert is an electric violinist playing concerts of his own music in Australia, UK, Europe, and the USA, ranging from classical to ambient/world music and blues, and releasing over 27 albums of his own music since 2003.

Trained as a virtuoso concert violinist in Vienna, Austria, his deep spiritual feeling for music has fuelled his musical passions over a diverse range of musical styles since a young age. Formerly a member of the Vienna Chamber Opera (Vienna, Austria), he has been sideman to stars such as Beatles’ producer Sir George Martin, Olivia-Newton John, Demis Roussos, John Farnham, Anthony Warlow, Austrian TV heart-throb Tobias Moretti (of “Inspector Rex” fame - the detective not the dog!), and more recently Hollywood singer-songwriter Lisbeth Scott.
