Jen Mize, Jimmy Watts and Craig Atkins play 'In The Round' for a night of filmed live music.

A very unique evening of world-class soulful roots and blues music with Jen Mize & The Rough ‘N Tumble, Jimmy Watts Band and Craig Atkins, filmed performing 'In The Round'.

Saturday 22 February 2020 will see Jen Mize previewing her new band Jen Mize & The Rough 'N
Tumble alongside Jimmy Watts Band and Craig Atkins at this unique 'In The Round' filmed performance in the beautiful surrounds of Smoked Garage Brisbane's warehouse space.

Hosted and produced by Bad Octopi, this will be an exciting 'In The Round' style live filming event where the audience will surround these esteemed bands as they each perform in the centre amidst a
spectacular light show, allowing an opportunity for audience members to become an integral part of each act’s visual history.

Having asserted herself as a powerhouse vocalist, celebrated songwriter, and one of the foremost authorities on Americana/Alt-Country music in Australia, Jen Mize will be introducing her raucous
new band The Rough ‘N Tumble—an 8-piece group of established session musicians from across Australia (Jeremy Edwards, Mitch Power, Dan Biederman, Zac Watson, Dyxon Tahana, Tristan Rogers and George Bruhmans). With a record in the works, Jen Mize & The Rough 'N Tumble will be previewing their room-shaking new music for this 'In The Round' audience.

Performing alongside them with "incredible fast blues licks and devastating growl" (The Music), Jimmy Watts is a soulful grass-roots rocker and troubadour who has grown to be one of Australia’s most unique and memorable entertainers. Fixated on pushing the boundaries of his craft, Watts' playing style is a furious assault on the beaten bodies of his guitars, with his gravelly vocals and roaring harmonicas only adding insult to their injuries. This 'In The Round' event will be fuelled by the ferocious energy, tremendous heart and raw spontaneity of Jimmy Watts Band’s performance as they showcase their "refreshingly raw take on Blues and Roots. (Rave Magazine)"

Joining these acts will be award winning multi-instrumentalist Craig Atkins—a 'one-man band' songwriter and performer with a set-up consisting of various acoustic guitars, lap slide, cigar box guitars, Yidakis (Didgeridoos), harmonica, foot percussion and loop and effect pedals. With dynamics ranging from chilled finger-picking stories and rollicking folk foot tappers to delta slide blues and stomping roots, Craig’s passionate and honest live performance weaves through Roots, Blues, Folk, World and Country styles to create a live music experience that is not to be missed.

This 'In The Round' performance will be held at Smoked Garage, Brisbane—an incredible heritage-listed building in Fortitude Valley operating as a custom motorcycle workshop/coffee house/barber/warehouse event space that is set to provide an amazing visual backdrop for this live filming event. Limited pre-sale tickets are available now, with a Smoked Garage dinner/drinks deal on offer to round out this sensational evening (more information below).

"Jimmy's impressive guitar skills and growling vocal style hit you like a brick in the face—a monster hybrid of Xavier Rudd, Tom Waits and Ash Grunwald." - The Music

"Craig [Atkins] breaks down the walls between genres that don’t get along and instruments that can't agree and forces them to sit together at lunch and chat. And it sounds right." - Music SA
