Woodgrove Shopping Centre and Melton City Council have joined forces to launch a community art project, which will be showcased in the shopping centre from Wednesday, 3 June.
The artwork profiles local Melton West artist, Bryce Holywell's signature meditative mandala art, centring around wellbeing, relaxation and positive health messages that aim to support and uplift the community during COVID-19.
The project encourages parents to consider the arts as a creative outlet of self-care, as well as reminding them of the importance of being able to talk about mental health without stigma, during this uncertain time. Interactive content will also be available to entertain younger budding artists. Children can win prizes by downloading mandala sheets and entering the colouring-in competition from 4-26 June, as well as learning how to create their own mandala via an online video tutorial.
Melton based digital artist and graphic designer, Bryce Holywell, is best-known for exploring the connections between art and therapy, and using meditative traditions of mandala art to dive deep into the workings of the mind. After starting work as a junior designer, a life-challenging period overcoming mental illness led him to incorporate the practice of meditative drawing into his art and design work, which contributed to improved mental health.
