New Orleans Mardi Gras.

Geoff Bull has had an illustrious career as one of the country’s leading Jazz trumpeters. He has toured the world extensively and is still in international demand to this day. He has built a reputation for himself as one of the most authentic torch bearers of the New Orleans Jazz tradition.

Geoff has formed a band with five of the country’s most in demand young Jazz musicians: Justin Fermino, Ben Panucci and Sam Dobson (three quarters of The Cope Street Parade), piano prodigy Harry Sutherland and trombone extraordinaire John Hibbard. This band is unprecedented in Australia for its dedication to the tradition of New Orleans Jazz and is a true living and breathing symbol of the passing on of knowledge from an old master to the next generation. This band represents not only the history of Jazz but also its future.

The band has built a strong following in Sydney with their six year strong residency at The East Sydney Hotel, which each week is packed to the rafters with fans new and old. With three albums to date and appearances at some of the country’s most respected festivals such as the Wangaratta Jazz Festival, Geoff Bull & The Finer Cuts are by far one of the most unique and important Jazz bands in Australia today.

Geoff has performed and recorded around the world with the cream of the international jazz community including the great New Orleans Jazz revivalists George Lewis and the Preservation Hall Jazz Band. Other notable collaborations include Sammy Price (NYC), Sammy Rimington (UK), Captain John Handy (N.O.), Topsy Chapman (N.O.) Bull also met and talked music with the great Louis Armstrong on his only visit to Australia in 1958 with his "All-stars". Geoff also lived between New Orleans and Sydney from 1973 to the mid 1980s.

Presented by the Gold Coast Jazz and Blues Club.
