BayFM PRESENTS HUSSY HICKS + SAM BUCKINGHAM LIVE FROM THE BRUNSWICK PICTURE HOUSE!

Hussy Hicks supported by Sam Buckingham will fire up the Picture House stage to help raise vital funds for the shire’s one and only community radio station. This is a special one night only gig celebrating creativity, instinct and passion in music.

HUSSY HICKS
A band of accomplished and powerful women, Hussy Hicks have made a name for themselves locally and on the international stage the old fashioned way — by playing their music and connecting with audiences one passionate performance at a time. Julz Parker is widely recognised amongst her peers as one of Australia’s finest guitar players, with a tone and approach that sits stylistically between Jimmy Page, Peter Green, Django Reinhardt and Tom Morello. Leesa Gentz’s powerhouse stage presence, soaring vocals and massive smile will steal your heart, have you hanging on every note and leave a tingle dancing down your spine.

“Hussy Hicks Rock!” — Michael Franti

“A not to be missed act that are ready for the world” — Peter Noble, Bluesfest Director

“Some artists need to be seen to be believed, and Hussy Hicks fit that category” — Sarah Howells, Double J

SAM BUCKINGHAM
Sydney born singer/songwriter Sam Buckingham dropped out of school and left home to get on a bus to Byron Bay, volunteering to pick up trash at the infamous Bluesfest in exchange for a ticket to the festival. “Standing in one of those dusty tents I realised that I was on the wrong side of the stage,” Sam recalls. Sam returned home and started writing furiously, cold calling venues asking for gigs and saving up money for her first recordings.

Now living in Byron Bay, with two acclaimed albums and her grassroots, fan-focused approach, Buckingham has become one of Australia’s most respected independent artists. Known for her intimate and “almost spiritual” live shows, Buckingham has supported the likes of Kasey Chambers, Julia and Angus Stone, Matt Corby and Washington.

“Her songwriting and astounding voice gripped me” — Timber & Steel
