Aristaeus Farms is offering an introductory lesson into keeping bees with a focus on small scale, backyard beekeeping for kids and families, and is co-run by "Hoot", our 12-year-old daughter who has been actively keeping bees for 18 months.
This course is aimed at children and beginner beekeeping families who wish to get their own hive, or anyone just wanting to know more about bees and their lifecycle. We will cover everything from our other intro course, with a kid-friendly approach.
The course will cover bee lifecycles, basic hive and pest management as well as South Australian specific legislative requirements. We openly discuss the pros and cons of various hive types including standard Langstroth, Flow Hive and top bar.
The course includes lunch and on-site apiary tour.
