2020 marks the 24th year of The Japanese Film Festival (JFF) Australia and the launch of the brand new program, screening in Australia and New Zealand, JFF Plus: Online Festival. JFF Plus: Online Festival is a free online festival that brings contemporary Japanese films straight to your screen!
JFF Australia currently spans three programs, JFF Plus: Online Festival, Classics, offering rare 35 and 16mm film screenings (in Sydney, Brisbane, Canberra) for free, and Satellite, which tours a hand-picked selection of films across regional Australia.
JFF Australia is presented by The Japan Foundation, Sydney. The JFF started in 1997 with three free film screenings and is now one of the largest celebrations of Japanese films in the world; it is part of JFF Asia-Pacific Platform initiated by The Japan Foundation Head Office based in Tokyo. This initiative aims to support and grow interest in Japanese films and cinema culture throughout the Asia-Pacific region, including Australia.
