Josh Kelly Trio - Late Show

Melbourne saxophonist, Josh Kelly (30/70, JK Group, PBS Young Elder of Jazz) returns to The Jazzlab with his trio. Taking influence from the history of great chordless saxophone trios, the group radiates expression and groove through Josh's compositions which emphasize rhythmic exploration and improvisation. Josh is known for winning the PBS Young Elder of Jazz award in 2019 and for writing and performing with 30/70. He released his debut album 'The Young Ones' in April to wide acclaim and international radio support, being featured on BBC6. His trio takes listeners on a journey with a fiery, yet earthy approach to jazz that features the rhythmic dexterity of his saxophone style against the layered polyrhythmic approaches of James Mclean and Angus Radley.
