Did you know 2021 marks 40 years since the Victorian parliament decriminalised homosexuality in Victoria?
As the anniversary approaches, we take the opportunity to acknowledge the courage and resilience of our LGBTQIA community, with a once-off celebration currently in planning by the State Government. We are thrilled that Midsumma has been asked to facilitate community consultation to develop ideas for content for Melbourne Pride 2021 and help make sure this statewide celebration is one we all want to be a part of!
In a contemporary exploration of festivities, Melbourne Pride 2021 will embark on a journey of equality through inspirational arts, community involvement, food and culture. With the streets of Fitzroy coming alive as we celebrate history and build on the momentum for equality. The celebration will be an inspirational show of Pride and a reflection of 40 year “road to Pride”.
Which gets us asking, what does Pride mean to you?
We have an opportunity for your voice to be heard and to shape Melbourne Pride 2021 into an event which is truly owned by our communities. Join us for a workshop at Ross House for Independents & smaller organisations (disability, first nations & trans).
Tuesday 3 March, 5:00pm - 7:00pm
