It’s an intimate evening of super proportion as Brisbane four-piece My Fiction team up with Gold Coast three-piece Super Massive to bring you a cracking double bill of synthpop music. With venue capacity reduced for physical distancing, tickets are limited.

It’s been a few years since My Fiction played and my oh my how the world has changed since they released their acclaimed debut album FIREROMANCEFIRE ten years ago. And to be honest they have too - older (objective), wiser (subjective), more prone to back problems (a bit of both). With the ‘rona flaring up and down who knows what the next week, month, years will look like. To be honest we all need a bit of distraction. So why not join them and flash back to the early 2010’s with some synth-pop fun times?

After dusting off the synths, re patching pedal boards and completing The Quest for Eric’s Microphone, they’ve teamed up with the electric, eccentric and oh so spectacular Super Massive. Come join the frequency defying fun in the intimate beauty of Black Bear Lodge. Word to the wise, practice those chair shuffle moves (it’s a sit down gig), and we hope to see your beaming faces in such trying times.

It’s Super Massive’s first Brisbane show in ages too, and they will be launching their sixth single “Invertebrate” with an ultra-funky set of uplifting tunes old and new, all hewn from their unmistakeable 50/50 blend of dance and rock. Super Massive’s set will also sneak in a couple of their disco-driven tunes to ensure fans of their recent collaboration with The Soul Movers on “Circles Baby” are not disappointed (Glenn produced the track and Malina sings BVs). Get ready to do your best chair dancing, as their grooves are seriously infectious.

Super Massive released two singles last year which have had radio pick-up, Spotify playlisting and blog love from various corners of the world, including the US, UK, Germany, Sweden, Portugal and Mexico and right here in Queensland with repeat play on Rebel FM. Latest single Invertebrate has reached #3 on the Australian Regional Radio Chart, with support from community radio including 4ZZZ. Their plans for touring Australia and overseas this year have been squashed for now, but the good news is that the ex-Sydney band is nowadays Gold Coast-based, so Queenslanders who like their synthpop served up with a big slamming dose of funkiness are in luck!
