A Taste of New Orleans Comes to Sydney Road.

Wine bar favourite, Rascal, is about to get a little less Melbourne and a bit more ‘Big Easy’.

Kicking off March 15th, every Sunday for the next month, the Sydney Road wine bar + restaurant will celebrate the unique flavours, sounds, and spirits of New Orleans, providing guests an authentic immersive auditory and sensory experience.

Why?

“Because we love exploring food, wine, cocktails, culture, and music. Whether it’s locally or internationally inspired, we just love looking for more ways we can have fun and enjoy it.”

Say Rascal co-owners, James, John, Elliot, Simon and Harrison.

It makes New Orleans a fairly good place to start; a city known for its vibrant and distinctive culture that’s long been a melting pot of French, African, and American cultures. Least not forget the city’s infamous bead ‘distribution’ strategy.

Whilst we’re told flashing for beads isn’t encouraged, there will be plenty of authentic NOLA food, drinks, and music to immerse yourself in.

Over four unique nights, Rascal will explore the sweet, sweet sounds New Orleans has inspired and cultivated in its rich history, with each night dedicated to a specific genre: Dixieland jazz, rhythm and blues, rock’n’roll, and funk.

Paired, of course, alongside a NOLA inspired menu.

Head Chef, Elliot Pinn, has designed a select menu of rotating New Orleans classics – with a Rascal twist. One of the most distinctive regional cuisines in the US, look out for dishes such as Oyster Rockefeller, Po Boys, and jambalaya (vegan options are also available).

Those feeling thirsty in the Louisiana heat can find classic cocktails that taste like they’re straight from the French Quarter and Lower Gardens. You have NOLA bar favourites, Cane and Table and Barrell Proof, to thank for that—as they have provided a range of authentic cocktails for the nights.

And, of course, no New Orleans bar would be complete without its rye whiskey; local Brunswick cult distillery, Gospel Whiskey, will join Rascal for the four nights, serving riffs on city NOLA classics like, Sazeracs, Rye Peach Ice Teas, and Boozy Pimm’s Cups.

Running across four nights, bookings are highly recommended. As are empty stomachs, good spirits, and no bedtime.

Rascal Presents: Flavours and Sounds of New Orleans

Every Sunday from 5.30pm till late from March 15th 2020.
