The Osteoarthritis of the Knee (OAK) Program is specifically for people diagnosed with osteoarthritis of the knee. It offers a holistic approach providing disease specific education and self-management techniques and is run by health professionals.
The OAK Program consists of six weekly, 2.5-hour sessions, conducted in a friendly and supportive group atmosphere. Each week different topics will be covered and includes group discussion. Participants are encouraged to attend all six weeks to gain most benefit from the program.
Topics include:
What is osteoarthritis?
How to exercise correctly.
Pain management strategies.
Medications and their side effects.
Nutrition and healthy eating.
Emotions and arthritis.
Fatigue, relaxation techniques and much more…
