Perth Folk and Roots Club is back with live folk and roots music at the Inglewood Bowling and Sports Club with the support of the Inglewood Bowling and Sports Club and City of Stirling. For this event, the Perth Folk and Roots Club has John Howard and Donna Iverson.

‘Perth Folk and Roots Club will be featuring Perth Folk and Roots Club supporter and Vice President John Howard who will be launching a new CD along with Donna Iverson at the Inglewood Bowling and Sports Club ‘, said Keith Anthonisz, President of the Perth Folk and Roots Club.

John Howard is a Perth based singer/songwriter who released his debut 12 track CD ‘So it Goes’ on 1st January 2018. The album was produced with assistance from Mike DeVelta and Alan Dawson of Empire Blues. Johns songs are all in the Folk/Rock/Country genre and Johns musical influences include Mark Knopler, Eric Clapton, JJ Cale, Tony Joe White, and The Proclaimers. The So it Goes CD has been played on Alan Dawson’s “Twilight Zone” program on Fremantle Radio and has received very positive feedback. John Howard is now releasing a new album ‘Vintage Commando’ which he will be featuring at his performance at Perth Folk and Roots Club, along with songs from his first album. John will be joined by Jon Matthews and will be playing some of Jon’s originals songs along with a couple of Hank Williams tunes. Alan Dawson will also be joining John on bass guitar.

Donna Iverson is a singer songwriter who is focused on melodically rich storytelling, acoustic folk rock musings and imaginings. Donna has performed in the sell-out Perth Fringe Festival “Brothers and Sisters” which featured the music from the soundtrack “Oh Brother Where art Thou?” and has also presented a series of solo shows at venues such as Defectors Bar in Mt Lawley, Choo Choos Bar, , Swan Hotel (Fremantle) and the North Fremantle Bowling Club. This acoustic songstress has been writing, performing and delighting appreciative listeners during a musical career that spans two decades. In the late 90s in Melbourne, she formed the bands Lunasea (shoe-gaze) and Dosil Lisod (garage rock) ensembles and performed regular gigs in St.Kilda and Fitzroy and Collingwood venues.

‘As always we are also looking for up and coming artists to do a few numbers for the audience’, Keith added.

Please note the Inglewood Bowling and Sports Club is hosting the Perth Folk and Roots Club as a free event for its members and guests with memberships offered at a very reasonable cost to Perth Folk and Roots Club supporters.
