Perth Folk and Roots Club is back with live folk and roots music at the Inglewood Bowling and Sports Club with a special show for sponsors Masonic Care. For this event, the Perth Folk and Roots Club has Cathy Earle and Gypsy Lou.

‘Perth Folk and Roots Club thanks Masonic Care for their support and welcome the music of Cathy Earle and Gypsy Lou ‘, said Keith Anthonisz, President of the Perth Folk and Roots Club.

Cathy Earle as a solo guitarist has a big voice that demands attention. Recently she has been performing at the Perth Blues Club and other venues with her own Cathy Earl Band covering Koko Taylor, Big Mama Thornton, Bonnie Raitt, Elmore James & Renee Geyer just to name a few. Cathy has also performed with Direct from Singapore: Danny Loong's Universal Blues with other blues heavy weights Richie Pavledis, The Hot Biscuit Band, Rick Steele, Richie and Marc Gordon. Cathy was also previously involved in performing for International Blues Music Day at the Flying Scotsman in Mount Lawley where she performed with Rick Steele, Pete Romano, Dave Gillam and Steve Garde, John Rando and the Zuchinni Bros, Fiona Heath and John Talati. By way of background, Cathy originally lived in the Northern Territory where she joined her first band at age seventeen. In the late 80's she moved to Queensland and joined a rock band playing on the circuit from Brisbane to Townsville before becoming finalists in the Qld Rock Awards. She was also contracted in Japan for six months singing in a cabaret show.

GypsyLou is a two-part vocal harmony duo with guitar accompaniment, playing traditional Irish and Scottish folk music, original indie-folk songs plus covers of popular music. Carrie Lee is a singer/songwriter who has been performing music in Perth for the past 6 years, involved in various cover bands and projects as a singer and guitar player, and as a solo performer/busker. Her influences are eclectic, including blues, jazz, rock and folk music. Katie McMahon hails from Scotland, and is well-steeped in the traditional music of that part of the world. She studied music extensively throughout her schooling and has been a member of various choirs. She particularly enjoys singing in the Scottish national language of Gaelic and revels in its unique traditional sound. GypsyLou debut six-track EP, Girl In Blue, was released early in 2018 and is available across all platforms.

‘As always we are also looking for up and coming artists to do a few numbers for the audience’, Keith added.
