Look out all budding Harry Potters and Hermione Grangers, something magical is coming to Castle Towers these summer holidays to whisk away young witchcraft and wizardry fans on an enchanting and interactive adventure. With daily illusionist shows and wander-ful workshops, School of Wizardry will cast a spell over the Hills District for two weeks from January 11 to 24.

Level 2 Centre Court, opposite David Jones, will be transformed into a wondrous school-style setting straight out of a fantasy novel—complete with bookcases teeming with spell books, a twisting staircase, school crest and shelves lined with potions, beacons and bottles.

Everyone is encouraged to wear their favourite robes and wizard hat with daily prizes up for grabs for the best-dressed wizard! Week one of the program (January 11 to 17) will see the School of Wizardry’s 30-minute stage show pop up for seven days of magical performances, running twice daily for free.

Guests will be greeted by cloaked wizarding folk at the ticketing booth upon arrival, where they will be ushered to their seats before a skilful sorcerer bamboozles audiences with mind-boggling magic tricks – like making objects move with a wave of a wand; escaping from a locked box; books bursting into flames; and items vanishing and reappearing from thin air.

In week two (January 18 to 24), the stage will be replaced by classroom style work benches and desks as participants unravel the mysteries of magic and learn the tricks of the trade with three bewitching workshops each day.

Class is in session once students take the magician’s oath, reciting the laws of magic around a magical scroll. And upon completion, with the flick of a feather pen on parchment, will be bestowed with a personalised certificate to show that they are ready to take their new magic tricks into the world.

From wand artistry and casting spells, to mastering magic tricks from the Wizard maestro himself; learning the art of alchemy and conjuring up potions; and the science behind making gooey slime—the workshops have been created with children aged between five and 14 years old in mind.
