We are delighted to confirm that Southern Cross Soloists’ third and final anniversary season concert will be proceeding in the Concert Hall.

Unfortunately, due to challenges presented by COVID‑19, the Slava Grigoryan program will be postponed until 2021 so he will no longer be appearing as our special guest artist at the 18 October 2020 concert. This change was only confirmed following the print deadline for an article that appeared recently in The Courier‑Mail’s Q Weekend Magazine that included mention of this acclaimed classical guitarist. Southern Cross Soloists will now present SXS Returns to officially close their silver anniversary season.

QPAC is in the process of contacting all current ticket holders with this updated information.

In their first live concert since February, Southern Cross Soloists will bring their flair for the dramatic to QPAC with a program of unbridled virtuosity and exquisite beauty, including thrilling works by Telemann, Grieg, Verdi, Richard Strauss and Liszt as well as the sounds of Australia. The program will feature international Didgeridoo soloist Chris Williams (currently SXS’ Artist in Residence), and this year’s Opera Queensland Young Artist and rising starlet, soprano Rebecca Cassidy in celebration of SXS’ 25 years of exquisite chamber music.

Program:
- Telemann Trio TWV 42:d10 in D minor
- Nicola Antonio Porpora Alto Giove from Polifemo
- Grieg The Mountain Thrall Op 32
- R Strauss: 3 Songs Zueignung Op 10 no 1; Morgen Op 27 no 4; Frühling TrV 296 (from 4 Last Songs)
- Guest soprano Rebecca Cassidy
- Sean O’Boyle Earth, Fire from Didgeridoo Concerto
- Guest didgeridoo Chris Williams
- Liszt Totentanz Paraphrase on Dies irae, S. 126
- Piano soloist Alex Raineri
- Chick Corea Armando’s Rumba
