The Sydney Edible Garden Trail, is a celebration of the many ways that Sydney residents are creating food security and building self-reliance, saving money and the environment, while enjoying the health benefits of homegrown fruit and veg.

This year we have gone virtual - holding online live video feeds of various urban edible gardens via a Facebook closed group - 'The Virtual Sydney Edible Garden Trail'.

Our aim is to encourage and inspire growing edible produce in street gardens, home gardens and public spaces across Sydney.

The event showcases sustainable practices such as mulching for water conservation, recycling and composting to increase soil fertility and reduce landfill, planting to encourage bees, home food production to increase food security, and organic growing techniques to reduce chemical use.

You’ll also have the opportunity to learn about:
– aquaponics
– worm farms
– wicking beds
– banana circles
– caring for poultry
– companion planting,
– crop swaps

There's also workshops and talks. This is a community not-for-profit event with profits going to participating school and community edible gardens.

The virtual garden tour will take place on 21-22 March and continue for the next two months. We’re excited to announce that Costa Georgiadis, the host of Gardening Australia TV show, will present live from a selection of the gardens via video (at various times between 9am 4pm, Saturday and Sunday 21-22 March 2020) with the option for people to ask questions.

Other gardeners will also be holding live virtual tours of their gardens throughout the following weeks.

Tickets to the 2020 Virtual Sydney Edible Garden Trail gives you access to live videostreaming from a number our gardens, as well as access to the videos until 31st May 2020, so you can visit multiple gardens from the comfort of your own home.
