Stretch Yoga

In yoga we talk about flow. Flowing with the breath, and flowing from movement to movement. Our vinyasa sequences flow from one pose to the other using the breath to guide us, meaning that they move quickly (leaving us a little confused as to whether we're getting it 'right'! Vinyasa or flow is one of the most popular styles of yoga here at Stretch. It's fun, interesting, dynamic, physcially challenging and varied, and it can be especially uplifting in group classes as everyone's breath and movement synchronises. It's easy to get lost and confused in these classes, and to lose your internal focus, which is why we've created this workshop to delve into the fundamentals.

This workshop is about the foundations of practice in a flow class, breaking down common obstacles and points of confusion including:

- Sun Salutations and vinyasa transitions (chaturanga in particular)
- Breaking down the common standing poses
- Improving one-legged balance postures and looking at the positioning of feet and knees
- Placement of the hands to avoid wrist and shoulder pain
- Healthy shoulder engagement for poses working on upper body strength

This workshop will not only look at the foundations, but also include the use of props (and how to use them to make poses easier of harder) and will look at modifying poses and transitions to match your body and skill level. Whether you've never stepped foot in a flow class (but would love to gain the confidence), or you are looking to completely refine your practice, this workshop is the perfect way to spend a Sunday morning!

Suitable for beginners as well as intermediate students.

Bookings essential.
