1000 Tinder Opening Lines with Carla Adams

1000 Tinder Opening Lines is a project from 2018 in which artist Carla Adams matched with 1000 men on the dating app Tinder and recorded the first thing they typed to her.

The resulting book is a collections of statements and invitations ranging from sexy to sad with a fair bit of humour throughout.

In this performance, the artist will read the entirety of the opening lines and talk about some of the conversations and experiences that eventuated from 1000 Tinder matches.

1000 Tinder Opening Lines will be on sale and Carla Adams is available to sign copies.

The second edition features a foreword by AGWA Curator Robert Cook, and six new illustrations.

sorry I was/am too much pairs works by Western Australian contemporary artist Carla Adams and one of Australia’s foremost modernist artists, Albert Tucker. The show includes Adams’ paintings, textiles, ceramics and mixed-media objects, drawings and visual diaries that emerge from her experiences in the contemporary dating world. This is juxtaposed against a selection of Tucker’s drawings and paintings from the Gallery’s Collection, produced between 1943 and 1989.
