See Brazil through Amazonas eyes.
This project represents Brazil in a different way to the western lens of colonialist photos you often see. It educates viewers of the traditional knowledge of its environments (known as lendas)–its rivers, plants and cultural practises.
Aîkugûabeté is Tupi language for the Portuguese expression, sou muito grato (I’m very grateful). The voices you hear and imagery you see tell the real story of Brazil: a land that is diverse and rich in history, culture and landscapes.
João Marco Deloie is a Brazilian-German emerging artist with a background in photography and video. Originally from regional Queensland, Deloie is now based in Melbourne and is undertaking a Bachelor of Screen Production at Swinburne University of Technology, co-majoring in Film Production and Indigenous Studies.
