If we want to save the world we must have a plan, but no plan will work unless we meditate. His Holiness the Dalai Lama.

Having had a long break from the Calm Abiding Practice Days, there is the opportunity once again to retreat, sit and abide in the natural surroundings of the wellbeing centre to "soothe the body, still the mind and illuminate awareness." The day will consist of theoretical instruction, ample time for practice both guided and in peaceful silence as well as group discussion.

The practice is based upon meditation instruction found within the Tibetan Buddhist Tradition yet insights from Western Philosophy and Science will be drawn upon to assist the practice.

Meditation leader:

Jhampa was a monk at Chenrezig Institute for many years studying philosophy, engaged in practice and is well known within the Chenrezig Community. He then lived in India for some years learning Tibetan and continuing Buddhist Philosophy studies. He is now studying and training as a Psychotherapist. People find his approach to learning about the workings of the mind very clear and up to date. "

Established 1974, Chenrezig Institute is a centre for Buddhist study, meditation, retreat and practice nestled in the foothills of the Sunshine Coast Hinterland. The Institute is home to a Tibetan Geshe (Lama), a large community of ordained Sangha (monks and nuns), students, residents, volunteers, retreat goers and guests.

Apart from the formal study programmes, Chenrezig Institute is a peaceful, calm and relaxing place to spend a few hours, days or weeks. Stroll along the bush paths, wander in formal garden, espresso in the cafe or a vegetarian meal.

Also below the far carpark is ‘The Wellbeing Centre’ which provides courses focusing on cultivating physical, emotional and mental balance and wellbeing. They include authentic traditional and modern psychological approaches to health and lifestyle. They are suitable for everyone who maybe looking for genuine happiness and well-being in a non-religious framework.
