Responding to the latest lockdown in Melbourne, Camerata – Queensland’s Chamber Orchestra is re-programming our first subscription series concert, Compassion. Unfortunately, our Guest Artist Lior, a resident of Melbourne, can no longer travel to Queensland and his appearance with Camerata is postponed. WHAT TO EXPECT
Camerata is excited to be back on the QPAC Concert Hall stage, even without a soloist. Recently returning from a tour of Western Queensland, Camerata’s musicians will take centre-stage performing a re-mastered program celebrating classical masterpieces alongside works composed by Queensland composers celebrating Queensland stories.

Camerata Re-Mastered will feature Beethoven’s Grand Fugue, Turina’s sensual Bullfighter’s Prayer, Steve Reich’s minimalist Duet, and the world premiere of Beyond the Front Door by Queensland Composer, John Rotar.

New in the program are the 2021 composition of Little Corellas by Camerata’s founding Leader Cameron Patrick as well as Betty Beath’s Woman’s Song. One of Camerata’s favourite works, we will perform for your Samuel Barber’s beautiful Adagio for Strings immortalised in the movie Platoon.

Featuring Camerata’s Ensemble-in-Residence, the Orava Quartet, the concert will close with Edward Elgar’s Introduction and Allegro for String Quartet and String Orchestra.
