Dan Barnett Big Band
The Legendary Dan Barnett big band return for one night only at the iconic Mary’s Underground

This star studding lineup will play selections from their 4 studio albums Swing, Boogaloo, Latin and Funky grooves with all the juicy bits in between. Expect the unexpected as some of Australia’s leading big band exponents explode onto the stage doing what they do best. With household names like Dickeson, Greening, Locke, Theak, Robertson and Cassar in the lineup you can expect to be blown away with incredible arrangements, ensemble playing and of course great soloing. The programme will highlight some of Australia’s finest arrangers and composers and we might even throw in a classic to 2. Expect the unexpected.

Dan says “I launched my second big band album in this room and can’t wait to be back there”

Carl Dewhurst/Matt McMahon/Lisa Parrott

Pianist Matt McMahon and Guitarist Carl Dewhurst have joined forces with Lisa Parrott to create an exciting new trio. Carl is A leading figure in the jazz and improvised music scene with a youthful infatuation with rock, which still bubbles to the surface given half a chance. Matt McMahon was the Wangaratta National Jazz Piano Award recipient for 1999, and the 'Freedman Jazz Fellowship' in 2005 – firming establishing his place in Australian Jazz. Expat Lisa Parrott returns home from New York, to join the duo, bringing her adroit maneuvers on sax that astound and delight the listener, with a shared feeling of magic in the air.

“They are like two poets finding the confines of the sonnet form a catalyst for creativity” – John Shand.
