Bicycle Queensland is excited to announce the return of its iconic city to coast cycling event – the ‘Downer Brisbane to Gold Coast Cycle Challenge 2021’. On Sunday October 17, we invite Queenslanders of all ages and all riding abilities to grab a bike and join the community for a full day of fun.

This year you can choose from three different routes—100km, 60km and 40km. Participants will ride through 15km of uninterrupted, traffic-free Busway and a combination of service and suburban roads all the way out to the Southport Broadwater Parklands finish festival. Dotted along the route will be a myriad of rest stops offering food and drink, as well around-the-clock medical and mechanical support stations for all riders.

This year’s event will be supporting Stronger For Longer, a volunteer-run organisation that works in partnership with Queensland University of Technology (QUT) to support promising prostate cancer research.

Our COVID safe planning will be modified to align with changing government directives. All efforts will be made to reschedule the event instead of cancelling in the case of a COVID-19 outbreak. Ticket transfers to the rescheduled date will be free! If the 2021 event is cancelled – you will have the option to transfer to the 2022 event, transfer your registration fee directly to Bicycle Queensland to support our education and advocacy work and our mission of more people riding bikes more often or you can request a refund once the event has been declared cancelled. **This will be minus an administration fee of $20 excluding GST.

Registrations are now open. For all information on ticketing and pricing, visit the official event website. We look forward to seeing you there!
