Creative Paper Making - Botanical Paper Making

Make unique sheets of paper using environmentally friendly materials and low-tech equipment. Zela will explain preparing the pulp, demonstrate the use of the equipment and support participants in exploring it for themselves. She will share some techniques to achieve texture, colour and decorative effects.

Every plant gives special qualities to the paper that is formed from it, and we will try two different batches and combinations thereof. We will also try out some multiple-couching techniques.

You will have time to make several sheets of paper to dry at home, as well as the knowledge to carry on independently.

Zela has been experimenting with botanical papermaking for over a decade and loves to explore the possibilities of botanical fibres. She holds degrees in Visual Arts and Environmental Education.
