Garden Guru for 2021 on Main Stage Tino Carnevale from ABC Gardening Australia.

Born and bred in Tasmania, Tino’s lifelong interest in plants and gardening stems from growing up on his family’s small farm in Southern Tasmania, helping to tend its vineyard, olive grove and extensive vegetable garden.

As well as being a presenter on ABC Television’s Gardening Australia for a decade, Tino writes a weekly column for the Tasmanian newspaper The Mercury and also articles for the Gardening Australia Magazine. He has worked at the Royal Tasmanian Botanical Gardens and still films there regularly.

He now also does weekly radio with ABC 936, carrying on one of the oldest gardening talkback shows in the world after the retirement of Peter Cundall.

He is active in community programs and events and gives regular talks to gardening groups at conferences and festivals around Australia.

Although he has working experience in commercial agriculture, especially cherry orchard management and small scale farming he is probably happiest in his own garden, propagating and planting, grafting and digging.
