Gympie has some stunning old buildings and Urban Sketchers will capture their beauty at key sites throughout Gympie town.
You will meet each Saturday morning for five weeks at a separate location, then on the sixth week attend a full day workshop at Gympie Regional Gallery where the focus will be on completing one small artwork from your chosen location.
The completed artwork will be mounted in a lovely Beechwood frame and hang in an exhibition at Gympie Regional Gallery from 1 - 24 July with opening event Saturday 3 July.
Gympie Urban Sketchers is facilitated by architectural artist Miriam Innes who is internationally renowned for her large-scale hyper-realistic charcoal sketches of the built environment.
Miriam draws attention to the often neglected details found in suburban structures and invites a closer examination of architectural features, materials, and structures, while challenging viewers to rethink the beauty and rich complexity which is often overlooked.
