Ever wondered why people are so drawn to Buddhist statues and wall hangings to bring serenity and calm to a space? Though only recently a feature to be found in many Australian homes, classical Tibetan and Nepalese art in the form of painting and sculpture has been integral to Eastern spirituality for centuries.

Over the weekend of the 13th and 14th March from 10 am to 5 pm, a Himalayan Art and Craft Exhibition will be held at the Richard Randall Studio at the Mt Coot-tha Botanic Gardens. Beautiful thangkas (Tibetan scroll paintings surrounded by brocade) and statues will be on display and a range of handicrafts on sale.

Chai, the classic Indian tea and delicious cakes will be available and there will be a raffle and lucky door prizes each day. The Exhibition is hosted by Shenpen Australia and all funds raised will support healthcare, education and social welfare projects in India.
