Leatherplaiting Workshop (Three Days)

Make your own plaited belt or whip in this workshop with Bill Webb.

Prerequisite: Nil

Cost includes expert instruction, all materials, morning tea and lunch
Requirements: Please wear closed in shoes, long trousers and sleeves

All our Leatherplaiting Workshops have a maximum number of participants.

On the long weekend
Learn the basics of the intricate trade of leatherplaiting. Using Kangaroo leather, you will make your choice of an 8 strand whip or a 13 strand belt. Kangaroo leather is often used by Australian leatherplaiters as it is one of the strongest leathers available. Its unique structure allows it to be cut very thin and still retain its strength.

Meet your tutor
Bill Webb has been leatherplaiting for over 40 years. He started when he was just five years old and perfected his skill under the guidance of the late RM Williams. Bill is a four-time Dame Mary Durack Award Winner and took first and second places in the 2015 Australian Plaiting Championships.
