Following their hit season at the Adelaide Fringe, Stewart D’Arrietta and his eight-piece band are set to delight Sydney music fans with this brand new show, ‘My Joe Cocker.’
World class producer and performer of ‘Lennon Through a Glass Onion’, ‘My Leonard Cohen’ and ‘Belly of a Drunken Piano’, Stewart D’Arrietta, comes to The Cremorne Orpheum with this show of great songs made famous by the late Joe Cocker.
Songs such as 'Feelin' Alright', 'The Letter', 'A Little Help From My Friends', 'You Can Leave Your Hat On' & many others.
“A red letter night of sublime entertainment… you don’t need to be a Joe Cocker fan to enjoy a showman in full flight” The Adelaide Show ***** (5 stars)
“ A dynamic singer with a gravelly voice... and a wicked line in jokes and stories….D’Arrietta is the full package, both as musician and entertainer.” The Daily Telegraph (Australia)
Stewart says “Joe’s movements were part of the expression of the passion and depth of feeling that he gave to the songs. Me, I play the piano so it comes out in my hands on the keys and in my voice. I think what I love about Joe most was his commitment to the song, he crawled inside it and let it become a part of him. He was great artist and he had great taste in songs that he covered.”
Just like Stewart has great taste in the artists he covers.
“Stewart D'Arrietta is a national treasure, an integral part of our cultural fabric. There is nothing he can't do at his keyboard” - Glenn A Baker
“ A well deserved, long-standing ovation.” - WOW FM (5 stars)
“D’Arrietta sounds like someone has soaked his lungs in whisky and set them alight.” - Broadway Baby
Soaked his lungs in whisky and set them alight? How perfect for a Joe Cocker song!
