If you can’t go home at least go where you’re welcome.

This sentiment is the running theme for the hybrid art show “Otwa Pandula Sho Mweya Po (You’re Welcome!)” developed by film photographer Deepasheni Thirumoothy, video wizard Raphael Recht and hip hop luminary One Sixth, who wears the hats of concept creator, director and curator under the moniker matutara for the event being held at BSIDE Gallery on Sunday 7th of March.

What began as a mere collaboration to film a music video for the single “Nunc Est Bibendum”, off the upcoming yet-to-be-titled One Sixth x The Silent Titan EP has turned into a fully fledged immersive audio-visual experience centred around the project’s muse: matutara’s mother aka The Running Queen, whose native language Oshiwambo is used in the event title to summon the curious eye, ear and spirit to experience a show like no other.

BSIDE Gallery, an upstart art space that races at it’s own pace (bars!!) is the perfect venue for a showcase that cannot be put in a box, but requires you to put your phone in one.

In a time where the whole globe was forced to connect with friends, family or complete strangers to stave off boredom via our devices, this exhibition welcomes you into the process of the song’s creation, from starter pistol crack to finish line, with no distractions.

Encapsulating everyone from the woman who physically gave birth to the artist One Sixth, to DJ, producer and recording engineer 2nd Thought, (The Running Queen’s second born son) who helped take the seed of an idea and put it to tape, and finally rounded off by Satori Mastermind Tigermoth, whose skilful sonic craftsmanship was the necessary icing on the multilayered sensory cake awaiting those who are hungry for something new. To make the cypher complete, The Silent Titan will be transmitting live during our evening session from his lair in the uncharted regions of dopeness!!!!
The whole event has been organised in adherence to COVID-19 guidelines but here's a bit of housekeeping:
