The New Year of 2021 will be celebrated at Perth Folk and Roots Club at the Inglewood Bowling and Sports Club on Sunday 24th January 2021 with the support of the Inglewood Bowling and Sports Club and City of Stirling. City of Stirling recently confirmed their support for Perth Folk and Roots Club in 2021. The performances are from 5pm to 8pm at the Inglewood Bowling and Sports Club, 1 Stancliffe Street, Mount Lawley. For this event, the Perth Folk and Roots Club has Dilip Parekh and Turning Left.

‘Perth Folk and Roots Club welcomes Dilip Parekh and Turning Left to perform at the first Perth Folk and Roots Club in 2021‘, said Keith Anthonisz, President of the Perth Folk and Roots Club.

Dilip Parekh is an Indian Irishman from Fremantle who is a singer/songwriter that has established himself as one of Western Australia’s finest songwriters. Dilip is also widely known as the frontman for high energy band - Dilip n the Davs. With six recording releases since their formation in 2008, Dilip n the Davs are a Freo favourite playing reggae/ska/funk/grooves that get people moving. Their album titled “Together”, feature guests Nicky Bomba and House of Shem’s Teo Perkins, was well received and had airplay nationally and internationally. His solo album ‘Better Out Than In’ showcases his more reflective songs in solo mode including musical interpretations of poems by WB Yeats and Herbert Hoover, as well as his own contemporary eclectic folk material. Dilip is currently playing in Charlie Carters, a band featuring a variety of great musicians.

Turning Left is a blues trio of established Perth musicians including Gordon German on guitar and vocals, who is ex for a number of acts in Perth including Harrison, Company B, Coldfront, Fearless Men With Facial Hair and Woodstock Experience that captured the original musical spirit of the 1969 festival. Steve Prescott is on bass and he is ex Firebird and also Slim Jim and the Phatts, one of the most successful cover bands in Perth. David Knox is on drums and is ex Volcanics, a well known Perth rock and roll band that plays stripped down raw rock ‘n’ roll with no hype.

‘As always we are also looking for up and coming artists to do a few numbers for the audience’, Keith added.
