Perth Folk and Roots Club is back at the Inglewood Bowling and Sports Club on Sunday 28th November 2021 with the support of the Inglewood Bowling and Sports Club and City of Stirling. The performances are from 5pm to 8pm at the Inglewood Bowling and Sports Club, 1 Stancliffe Street, Mount Lawley. For this event, Perth Folk and Roots Club has Derek Lee Goodreid and the Clarksville Five.

‘Perth Folk and Roots Club welcomes Delta blues and rockabilly inspired Derek Lee Goodreid and the Clarksville Five to perform at Perth Folk and Roots Club‘, said Keith Anthonisz, President of the Perth Folk and Roots Club.

Derek Lee Goodreid is a rock/blues artist originating from Perth. His gravely vocals and a raw feel makes him live and breath the Blues according to press site Close to Nowhere. Derek Lee Goodreid began his songwriting in his twenties as a confessional exploring his own battle with PTSD, anxiety, and depression with punk acoustic influences. After moving to Norway for love, Derek’s music and lyrics evolved influenced by Jeff Buckley, Elvis Presley, John Lee Hooker, Johnny Cash, and Robert Johnson. Derek’s blues-inspired rockabilly won his newly formed band, Howling Light, a place to compete at Notodden Blues Festival and several festival gigs in Norway and established venues such as Cafe Mono and Buckley’s Blues and Roots Bar. Since then Derek has released four solo albums and has returned to his hometown of Perth Western Australia. He continues to write, record, and perform his own special brand of Americana, Delta Blues, and Rock with his howling vocals red, hot rocking guitar, and heart of gold.

The Clarksville Five play original songs with a traditional sound with traces of rockabilly, a little country, blues, and soul. Their set is served up with a good dose of energy and feel-good hooks. The guitars twang and jangle as the songs rise and fall from rockers to ballads and a lover’s lament. The band are Paul Dennis on vocals, guitar and harmonica, Mark Ballesteros on lead guitar, David Blackie on drums, Mike Jones on rhythm guitar and Rob Preisig on bass. Clarksville Five have an album out called This Isn’t Going to Work and are out there doing shows around Perth including the Billabong Brewery.

‘As always we are also looking for up and coming artists to do a few numbers for the audience’, Keith added.

Please note the Inglewood Bowling and Sports Club is hosting the Perth Folk and Roots Club as a free event for its members and guests with memberships offered at a very reasonable cost to Perth Folk and Roots Club supporters.
