Socially-starved Melburnians rejoice! Southgate Melbourne has announced its picturesque 400-square-metre river dining pop-up will be back along the bustling Yarra River in time to enjoy the best of the sunny months.

Officially launching from December and running throughout summer, Southgate’s riverside dining destination along Southbank’s River Promenade will be set up between the Princes and Evan Walker Bridges.

Melburnians and visitors are invited to enjoy this perfect spot, which offers something for every occasion: a quick drink, a family dinner, a celebration or a group gathering – and it is dog friendly.

Boasting an incredible panoramic postcard view of Melbourne’s iconic cityscape, the exciting new pop-up is highly accessible via public transport and a nod to Europe’s vibrant promenading scene throughout the Summer – making it one of the city’s most Instagrammable outdoor dining spots.

Following its successful inaugural year, Southgate’s river dining pop-up is being programmed by some of the precinct’s favourite eateries including:

Pure South – a contemporary take on classic Australian food, showcasing some of the finest produce sourced from Tasmania and the Bass Strait region – Australia’s ‘pure south’.

Waterfront – Modern Australian seafood and grill options complemented by an extensive selection of both local and internationally sourced wines.

BearBrass – Relaxed, family-friendly environment with a wide selection of dishes from small bites and delicious pizzas to classic breakfasts and mouth-watering mains.

PJ O’Brien’s – Classic Irish pub and long-standing Southbank watering hole with Guinness on tap and broad variety of hearty pub meals.

Yassas - Authentic Greek street food with a modern Melbourne twist. A wide-ranging menu including their famous gyros to Greek-spirit infused cocktails.
