The Cool & Smart Very Funny Comedy Hour

Matt Young & Barney Pollock – Australia’s only comedy duo – are on a mission to be the country’s best improvisers. 

Armed with little more than a suggestion from the audience and five years of experience as friends on- and off-stage, The Cool & Smart Very Funny Comedy Hour will see the duo weave together an hour of absurd, lightning-paced laughs right before your very eyes. 

“Most people panic when they’re flying by the seat of our pants, but we love it,” says Matt. “It’s about pushing ourselves to the edge of our instincts. That’s where the fun stuff tends to happen.”

“We love surprising ourselves, which usually surprises the audience as well,” adds Barney. “Think Middleditch & Schwartz meets Tim & Eric.”

Barney & Matt will donate all of their profits from ticket and merch sales to Kids Like Us, an organisation dedicated to supporting twice-exceptional students – gifted children with challenges, differences, or disabilities. 

“I think improv is the perfect art form for my ADHD,” says Barney. “I don’t have to prepare at all, and my ‘eclectic’ attention span works as an asset, if anything.”

“I worked in a specialist school for seven years,” says Matt, “and I saw so many twice-exceptional kids who could benefit from learning this style of performance. It’s like social skills on steroids. Except fun.”

The Cool & Smart Very Funny Comedy Hour stars Matt Young & Barney Pollock. The 60-min live improvised comedy show is held at 9:30pm on Saturday 15th May/12th June/10th July/7th August at The Improv Conspiracy Theatre. Bookings highly recommended.
