Principal players of The Metropolitan Orchestra (TMO) will celebrate two extraordinary masterworks for Septet featuring the Clarinet, Bassoon, French Horn, Violin, Viola, Cello and Double Bass, from within the warm, intimate and charmingly ornate surrounds of the freshly refurbished Leichhardt Town Hall on June 6th.
Franz Berwald’s Grand Septet in B flat major is inventive, urbane and attractive making it an idyllic start to what will be a bright musical afternoon. Unfortunately, Berwald was not recognised as a success until long after his death, but is now considered one of Sweden’s truly great composers. Unlike Berwald’s work, Beethoven's resolutely cheerful and optimistic Septet in E flat major is one of his most successful and popular works even though it was written during a period of great personal anguish. Today, Beethoven’s work is considered as arguably one of the finest Septets ever written.
Seating will be restricted for this concert, therefore available tickets will be limited. For those who are unable to attend due to Covid or other reasons, this afternoon’s concert will be live-streamed for free!
