“A corset can do a lot for a lady, especially when the lady’s got a lot!”
Burlesque or boudoir, the corset is one of those pieces of lingerie that is much desired but shrouded in mystery, particularly how they are made.
Join Lorraine White Heritage Corsetry Artisan in this three-day workshop held at Cobb+Co Museum, to create your very own Victorian-inspired underbust corset (available sizes 8-18) in this three-day masterclass.
This workshop has been designed to guide the confident beginner through to more experienced sewists the fundamentals of corsetry construction. Working with a modern underbust corset pattern, the participant will be introduced to historically accurate construction techniques and guided through the trickier aspects of corset making, such as busk insertion and beautifully even eyelets.
Participants will walk away from this workshop with a completed single layer coutil underbust (beige colourway) and time permitting we’ll explore a range of embellishment techniques.
All materials and machinery are provided to complete your corset and a small class size guarantees individual attention for the best possible results.
Equipment to bring with you - your sharpest sewing scissors, berry/pearl head pins, a measuring tape and a 2B pencil.
Cost includes materials, catering of morning tea and lunch and tuition for three days.
