Jackie Bornstein

Jackie Bornstein is one of Melbourne’s most captivating jazz, chanson and bossa nova singers, known for her rich tones and ability to get to the heart of a tune. A regular at Melbourne's top jazz venues and festivals, Jackie brings a powerful energy to each performance.

Joined by her top band, Jackie will celebrate some of the most influential jazz singers of all time including Ella Fitzgerald, Billie Holiday, Peggy Lee and Nina Simone. From childhood Jackie was influenced by the virtuosic grace of Ella Fitzgerald, the unique expression and phrasing of Billie Holiday, the swinging elegance of Peggy Lee and the deep powerful delivery of Nina Simone.

Drawing on the repertoire of these jazz greats Jackie will pour her heart into songs of love, longing and protest. Featuring tunes by Billie Holiday, Nina Simone, Peggy Lee, George Gershwin, Cole Porter, Duke Ellington, Antonio Carlos Jobim and more.

"An enchanting vocalist and captivating storyteller." - Australian Jazz

Jackie was recently awarded a 2021/2 City of Melbourne Arts Grant for her project Women in Jazz: An Invitation to Freedom which will see her developing a book and releasing an album later this year.
