Drummer and composer, Micheal Pignéguy, formed his sextet (MPS) in the mid 90s as a vehicle for original compositions and arrangements by himself and the other founding band members. The group went on to record its debut album live at the iconic jazz club Greenwich and followed up with a 2nd double album a couple years later which featured, and was co-produced by Australian sax doyen and US Jazz Messengers alum, Dale Barlow.
Niels Rosendahl (saxes, flute) | Lachlan Glover (trumpet) | Harry Mitchell (keyboards) | Steve Richter (vibraphone & percussion) | Karl Florisson (bass) | Micheal Pignéguy (drums)
Special guest Solomon Pitt (vocals)
The addition of Solomon Pitt, as guest vocalist and collaborator, has allowed Michael to selectively add the vocal element to what were solely instrumental tracks as well create completely new co-written works which channel the influences of a range of soul jazz artists. It's a process which has been extremely rewarding and something which Michael and the group are eager to share on their first outing as the new line-up!
